Italian Beslan (Russia) july 2005 See also: "CP 02", "CP 03" in our video - Podcast The Pastificio Cerere Foundation was born with the idea of language development in the panorama of contemporary art. Careful to the evolution of art in public institutes, as in this case the hospital of Beslan. The Pastificio Cerere Foundation wanted to participate to the project proposed from the Civil Protection, inviting 3 plastic artists to take part of it with some wall paintings inside the hospital, that Italians through the Civil Protection have donated to children of Beslan. The artists of this project are a group created inside the Pastificio Cerere who have a way of research that can suit to this kind of participation. Maurizio Savini an artist sensible to topics of infancy, in the past cooperated with the children’s hospital Necker of Paris. Pietro Ruffo created different painting workshops with the children of Sarajevo, inside the project ' Hello Sarajevo' and with the children of Pescara for the exhibition ' pueri et magistri '. Nicolaj Pennestri has worked with the center for diagnosis and therapy of panic attacks organizing painting courses. Moreover the presence of a director, Massimiliano D' Epiro, in order to document the work of the artists and the different realities of Beslan. The artists arrived in Ossetia from the north, begun their works, from the first two floors of the hospital renovated by the Italian government. The works were immediately suitable to the space planned by the architect, the painting easily covered the walls of the space. With these works they were able to create a thin metaphor between abstraction and figuration letting the children develop their perception through geometric and superficial figures. After this experience, two workshops have been created, the first one inside a pediatric institute, with the realization of four canvas all executed by the children survived to the attack of school 1 of Beslan. The second has been created in the center of psychological recovery, the children drew and wrote some messages on newspapers pages, and then made some small boats, that together with balloons flew in the sky of osseto taking with them their dreams of peace and hope. The artists returned from Ossezia wanted to face the past experience, everyone using their own language, their own shapes of expression to create an exhibition.      | |
