 "PRONTO INTERVENTO" a cura di Lorenzo Benedetti 21.06.2006. In collaborazione con: Volume! - Zerynthia Four artistic projects designed for the Paediatric Clinic of the Umberto I General Hospital In the framework of the European Union ‘Culture 2000’ programme, the project: “Resident artists’ workshops in Hospital within enlarged Europe” is presented by Art dans la Cité, Paris. Alessandro Bulgini, Stanislao di Giugno, Marina Paris, Corrado Sassi. The dialogue developed between art and science is a pivotal element in human history, and there are a lot of contacts between these two apparently distant fields. The exhibition “Pronto Intervento” presents four artists who have taken part in the call for proposals launched to perform a permanent installation in the Paediatric Clinic in the Umberto I General Hospital (Viale Regina Elena, Rome). The selection committee comprised of art world as well as hospital professionals, has chosen the work by Stanislao di Giugno. The artist has created an installation that transforms the hall of the clinic in an extremely way by using light and movement elements. This is the way that space changes, emphasizing the pre-existing architectonic structure. The exhibition is divided in three parts: the first room displays the projects carried out in the five European hospitals (Ljubljana, Marseille, Madrid, Paris, Rome). The second, puts on view all the proposals of the artists taking part in the call for the paediatric clinic project in Rome. The third part of the exhibition shows the works of the artists. The exhibition “Pronto Intervento” is the chance to call attention to the meaning of art in a place of public utility, as well as to keep in a close interaction the functional side of art with the place where it is actually performed. This is why, together with the projects designed for the paediatric clinic, there will be additional works of art revealing the development paths of the artists. It is many years that the leader of the project Art dans la Cité deals with taking art in hospitals all over Europe. At the moment, the project of Maurizio Savini is under construction in the Necker – Enfants malades Hospital in Paris.
