The Pastificio Cerere Foundation will present on Tuesday 16 of May 2006 within the V the edition of the international festival of Rome “Fotografia”.
The solo exibithion of Claudio Abate, artist and photographer internationally known for his extraordinary activity in dipicting the world of the contemporary art since the end the fifties and has create a unique document on the avant-garde in Rome.
Thanks to this great and coherent work we have a testimony of historical moments of the contemporary art in the sixties. Thru his camera, Abate shows not simply the artists, but all the artistic atmosphere around the artists.
The work of Claudio Abate is not only limited to be a unique testimony of the Rome’s world of the art. In this exhibition we present two series of photos that show an unknown aspect of the work of the famous photographer but having equal importance among his work. The series of photos both have a narrative character: the first one in black and white, realized in 1972, shows an intimate dialogue between the sensibility and the beauty of the human body; the other one, done in 1978, is a series of 6 coloured photos, which shows the meeting between a person and a woman imprisoned in his imagination that only appears like a mirage on a wine glass. The series of photos enclose a precious dictionary view of intimate reflections. The interesting game of glares and apparitions highlights the gap created by the relationship between the image like captured in the reality, and the reality constructed as an imagination dimension.
Two recent works in black and white open the exhibition and prove the continuity of Claudio Abate in his artistic search through the photography.
